Grilled Boudin Po' Boy review by David
I grew up in New Jersey, so I do not pretend to be some lifelong boudin-and-gumbo authority. My Cajun credentials are mostly "I have friends from the swamps of Louisiana who make dangerously good homemade gumbo," which is not nothing, but also not enough to start yelling at anyone about authenticity. That said, this chicken gumbo is absurd. The roux is deep, rich, and serious. The flavor has that slow built, dark magic quality where you can tell someone stood over a pot and made correct decisions for a long time. I come to the area for business fairly often, and I am not exaggerating when I say I start thinking about this gumbo when I see Port Arthur pop back up on my schedule. That is not normal behavior for soup. This gumbo has become a calendar event in my brain. Then you add the potato salad, which I believe is the proper Cajun move. Dip it in the gumbo, drop some in the gumbo, let the two become friends, whatever your preferred method is. I am not here to police tradition. I am here to say it works. The cool, creamy potato salad with the dark, rich gumbo is absolutely ridiculous in the best possible way. And then, because apparently subtlety has no place here, there is the grilled boudin po boy. The boudin is deeply seasoned, rich, and packed with flavor, while the fresh vegetables cut through everything just enough to keep you from floating away into the bayou like a happy little ghost. A grilled boudin po boy, chicken gumbo, and potato salad should not be allowed to hit this hard. It is a beautiful, chaotic, deeply satisfying plate of food, and I will be thinking about it until the next time I am back.

My family and I tried this place for the first time Monday for my birthday and boy am i glad! I got the seafood enchiladas and they were a hit!!! My daughter got the grilled shrimp tacos, my husband got the red fish tacos, and my toddler got a kids meal taco plate! I also loved that we got a generous side salad with specialty plates - fair amount of food for the price. No complaints at our table. The beer was cold & the margaritas were delish. We left full and happy & will be back!

The seafood gumbo is the best in town as in SETX. Plenty of shrimp and crab and the roux is awesome!
